The month of November, and February always means conferences will take place. While some think that they should be required, others say they are just a waste of time.

Conferences are great for parents to get information on how their children are doing and what they do at school, like class activities. It is crucial that people have conferences because if their child is trying to hide their grades from them, all they have to do is go to the conference and their advisory teacher will clear everything up. If their child is failing the parent and the advisory teacher can think of a plan to help the child improve.

Conferences can be a waste of time for the kids who don’t need them. Such as the kids with outstanding grades. Conferences can be important and are only most needed for the kids that are failing or need help.

“What is the point  for people with good grades? It should only be for people that have F’s or D’s” said Priscilla.

In contrast, “It gives parents a good time to meet with their kids teachers.  Kids always have something to work on.  D and F notices gives parents an idea of where their kid is, and this is coming from a parent’s perspective,” Mr Crowell continued.

In my honest opinion the kids that are doing good and not failing, their conferences can be a waste of time because their conferences are faster than the kids that are failing.

Although conferences are for helping children, they can be meaningless if the child has perfect grades and doesn’t need any help in improving. Conferences should only be for the student that are not doing well. They need the help from teachers and parents.
