The Holocaust day of Remembrance is an International Memorial Day celebrated this year on Friday, January 27 to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

The Holocaust was the systematic murder of about six million Jews and many others who were persecuted by the Nazis and Hitler. Hitler was an anti semitic person who hated the Jews and wanted them dead.

This event takes place to honor those who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Survivors from the Holocaust come out each anniversary to tell their stories to others and what they experienced in that dark moments of their lives too.

People from all over the world come out to celebrate this event and learn from those whom survived the Holocaust. This day marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. It also marks the liberation of many other nazi camps that were used as killings centers to kill those innocent people.

“I will celebrate this day of remembrance to mourn those innocents who lost their lives and honor those who survived” said seventh grader, Sofia U.

The Holocaust Day of Remembrance is also a day of remembrance to honor our American soldiers who lost their lives trying to end World War ll. We as a nation mourn the loss of so many lives and celebrate those who saved them. We honor those who survived.

Every year on the annual day of commemoration the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and educational programs to help prevent future genocides.

This year on Wednesday January 27th at 7:00 pm the Museum of Tolerance located in Los Angeles will be celebrating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This event is recommended for you to attend and bring your family to celebrate this event and to help our generation prevent future genocides and learn about the struggles of others.
